#1 Tuning the Senses
I am actively tuning my senses—through music, cooking, and the smell of essential oils—to step out of the mechanical world and into the raw reality of World 12. Like Nan Shepherd in the Scottish mountains, I am discovering that true aliveness is found in the physical dirt and the quiet hum of joy.
At a glance
- Anzac Day & Grandfather: I reflect on missing Anzac Day, recalling my territorial army service and my grandfather's World War II experience as an engineer.
- Music & Tuning: I create instrumental tracks instead of listening to commercial music, which they find philosophically superficial or too catchy (like a Taylor Swift song).
- Sensory Practice & World 12/24: I consciously tuning my senses to reside in the "real" (World 12) and shift into a state of overflowing aliveness (World 24). This practice includes:
- Taste: Cooking Master Chef level meals.
- Smell: Enjoying essential oils (sweet orange and French rosemary) on a pinecone.
- Touch: Appreciating the sunshine and taking hot facecloth body washes, which feel deeply caring.
- Nan Shepherd & The Living Mountain: I recently discovered Nan Shepherd and her book The Living Mountain.
